Mendocino Village Inn was built in 1882 by William McCornack, a doctor and lumber baron. For the next half-century or so, the estate was home to a succession of doctors and their families. It was also the residence of famed local artist Emmy Lou Packard, who is credited with keeping the town from being over-developed. The historic Victorian mansion is located on Main Street, a short stroll from our Main Property. Within the historic three-story structure there are eight beautiful rooms, each uniquely appointed. Several of the rooms have soaking tubs, ocean views and fireplaces. Additionally, there are five very popular rooms with their own private outside entrances (Cloud, Lillie's Loft, Lefty's Hideaway, Franklin Roosevelt, and McCornack Water Tower).
The Mendocino Village Inn is surrounded by old-fashioned gardens and is directly across from the historic landmark Presbyterian Church. The Big River beach and estuary is less than a five-minute walk from the front door through Headlands State Park. Tables in the spacious lobby are available for playing games, reading a book or having a snack. There is also a large sunny deck available for all guests to enjoy. Additionally, a complimentary computer with high-speed Internet and printer is available on the first floor of the main house.
