1st Annual Pride of Pets Dog Show a Success

Furthering our reputation as a dog friendly establishment, MacCallum House hosted the first annual Pride of Pet’s Dog Show in conjunction with the Mendocino Coast Humane Society on June 11, 2005. The event drew more than 35 dogs and was attended by more than 100 people. Nine events were judged by three members of the attendees.

The winners were as follows:

  • Overall “Best of Show” was one by REX, a beagle owned by Tanner Beale of Fort Bragg. He received 2 nights’ lodging at the MacCallum House and dinner for 2. Second prize in this category was won by Arlo, a German Short- haired Pointer owned by Susan and Rob Leslie of Santa Rosa. They received dinner for 2 at the MacCallum House.
  • In the individual weight categories for “Best of Show”, the winners were: Up to 20 lbs, Sparky, owned by Jackee Fonbuena; 20-60 lbs, Rex owned by Tanner, and over 60 lbs, Arlo owned by Susan and Rob.
  • Personality and Poise – Elliott owned by Wendy Schutz of Fairoaks, CA
  • Owner Look-a-Like – Annie owned by Roberta Howe of Little River
  • Talent – Gracie owned by Andrea Shafir of Caspar
  • Best Tail Wagger – Arlo owned by Susan and Rob Leslie of Santa Rosa
  • Most Mysterious Heritage – Augie, an American Dingo owned by Susie

Dog registration was a $25 dollar donation to the Mendocino Coast Humane Society. A gallery of pictures from the event can be found here, The 2nd Annual “Pride of Pets” dog Show will take place in the Spring of 2006 on the MacCallum House lawn. Stay tuned for details.
