This room has all the elements that make Mendocino a destination. Simple, elegant, bright and cheery, this second floor accommodation with west and north exposure has a comfortable carved wood Queen bed and an a beautiful little woodburning fireplace. From the west window you can see the open fields of the Village, the historic Captain Lansing water tower, and a distant view of the ocean. The room is named after Madge Piersol, one of the daughters of an early family that lived in the house. Look on the top corner of the window that faces north and you will find where Madge etched her name into the glass when she was seven years old. There is also a portrait of Madge as a little girl next to the window. Born in 1902, Madge returned to spend the night in her room on her 100th birthday in 2002. Leave this historic window open a crack while you sleep and you will be able to enjoy the sweet air of the Pacific Ocean.

The front cover of local artist Kevin Milligan's wonderful book of paintings Mendocino, A Painted Pictorial features a view of Captain Lansing's watertower, painted from the fields behind the Mendocino Village Inn. Kevin's work can be seen at his Coastside Gallery right across from the MacCallum House, on Albion Street.
